What they’re doing is incredibly hypocritical. I mean the people on the outskirts of the continent have nothing to do with their empires and are just innocent people getting hurt.
That’s pretty much why we had this chapter. Many of the characters didn’t wish for this solution but like it is stated, the desert has to deal with at least half of the continents issues with the gates. There is a limit to what they can tackle. Troops are probably still dying from the desert
