Why does matata keep refering herself as “this man”
It’s an issue with machine translations of Korean. For some reason MTL misgenders men/women constantly. It’s super annoying. Also You/Me seems to be equally bad.
Then that’s just lazy editing. I’m not trying to diminish their efforts and I greatly appreciate the translations, but these are mistakes that can be easily fixed.
This is indeed where editor role for translation fit. The typesetter can also check do the checking instead of putting the text in the speech bubble without checking.
The issue is about the machine translation getting hallucinations via jumping to conclusion and reverting to the usual man>male>……
There is also how korean as a language don’t always use gender disignation to their language, as it’s only assume the respect and heirarchy between each speaker exchange.

The real translation should be “This Person”, but machine translation is setup to always revert to the gender male designation. So the mtl keep using “This Man”.
